Reliant Robin
Reliant Robin is an aluminized, pourable propellant for use in high-performance motors.
Details
The formula for Reliant Robin is as follows: 35.00% Ammonium Perchlorate, 400 μm 35.00% Ammonium Perchlorate, 90 μm 12.00% Aluminum Powder, 5 μm 1.00% Oxamide, 4 μm 11.19% HTPB R-45HTLO (Eq. Wt. 1234) 0.30% HX-878 Tepanol 0.05% Lecithin 0.10% CAO-5 3.37% IDP 1.99% MDI (Eq. Wt. 185) 1 drop / 500 g propellant PDMS |
The thermodynamic and burn-rate numbers for Reliant Robin: a = 0.0135 in/s n = 0.412 Molecular weight = 24.98 g/mol Specific heat ratio = 1.198 Chamber temperature = 2977 K @ 1000 psi C* = 5072 ft/s |
Reliant Robin is our high-efficiency pourable propellant. It has been successfully run to Kn 550 at 1500 psi with no problems, making it tame and easy to work with. Due to the 5 μm aluminum, it combusts its metals easily with over 95% combusted in a 54mm 3 grain sized motor. Process it at 80-90 °F for best pot life/ pourability balance.
